China Imposes Tariffs on US Products, Considers More

Pres. Trump says 'DACA is dead', blames democrats


Presdient Trump has once again blamed Democrats over a failure to reach a deal that would protect hundreds of thousands of young immigrants from deportation.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Trump said DACA - the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program - was dead.

South African Activist Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Dies Aged 81

South African Anti-Apartheid campaigner Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has died at the age of 81.


The former South African First Lady  and ex-wife of the late Nelson Mandela passed away in hospital after a long illness.

Ugandan Soldiers Killed in Al Shabaab Attack in Somalia

H1B visa application process begins amid concerns from Indian companies

Indian companies have formally begun applying for the American H1B visa for their IT employees.

The H-1B programme offers temporary US visas through a lottery system- this allows highly skilled foreign professionals to travel to the US on a work visa.

However, with the Trump administration having announced several measures to tighten the scrutiny of H-1B visa petitions, in India there is a lot of apprehension about what this year's visa lottery will have in store.

China imposes retaliatory tariffs on 128 US imports

China has imposed tariffs of up to 25% on 128 US imports, including pork and wine. 

It's in response to US President Donald Trump raising duties on foreign steel and aluminium imports.

The tariffs affecting some $3 billion of products  - many of them agricultural - start today.

Beijing said the move was to "safeguard China's interests and balance" losses caused by new US tariffs.

The agricultural sector will be hit hardest as Kate Fisher reports from Washington.

US says UN Security Council OKs new sanctions package on North Korea


The United Nations Security Council has approved another forty nine designations to the North Korea sanctions list, according to United States ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley.  


The new designations are being touted as the largest set of entities added to the blacklist, and comes in a bid to prevent North Korea from circumventing existing sanctions through illegal maritime smuggling.
