White House to announce tariff move this week

A group of more than a hundred Republican congressmen is expressing "deep concern" over President Trump's plans to enact tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

The White House says Mr Trump will announce the measures by the end of the week.

A letter sent to the White House from the lawmakers warns tariffs will make American businesses less competitive, and undermine economic progress from recent tax breaks.

California Governor Says US Atty Gen'l Launching Reign of Terror Against California


California's Governor has accused the US Attorney General of initiating a reign of terror against immigrants in California. 

The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the California -- asking a judge to block new state laws that protect undocumented immigrants living in California.

Florida School Shooter suspect indicted on 17 counts of murder

The suspect in last month's deadly Florida school shooting has been
formally charged.

17 students and staff were killed and at least a dozen more injured at
a high school in Parkland.

Nikolas Cruz has been charged with 17 counts of first degree murder.

US Justice Dept Sues State of California

The US Justice Department is suing the state of California over its sanctuary policies.  

Those policies extend protection to undocumented immigrants and limit assistance given to federal immigration authorities.

UK Police say nerve agent used to target former Russian spy and his daughter


UK police say a nerve agent was used to target a former Russian spy and his daughter on Sunday.


66 year old Sergei Skripal and his 33 year old daughter Yulia  remain in a critical condition in hospital.   A police officer who was among the first to respond when the couple were found unresponsive in the city of Salisbury is also in a serious condition in hospital. 


Police say they do not believe there is any widespread risk to the public. 


Head of Counter Terrorism Policing Mark Rowley said authorities had identified the nerve agent used but would not be making that information public.   He said it was now being treated as a major incident involving attempted murder by the use of a nerve agent.

Jail terms for German far-right group members

A court in the German city of Dresden has convicted eight people of being part of a far-right terror group, which carried out attacks on refugee shelters and politicians.


The group's members received prison terms between four and ten years for a variety of charges including attempted murder.

UN demands Thursday ceasefire to allow aid access

South Korean officials to visit US

EU Says Future Trading Relationship with UK will be a FTA

European Council President Donald Tusk says the future trading relationship between the EU and the UK will have to be in the form of a free trade agreement. 

While speaking in Luxembourg, Mr. Tusk says he hopes the tariffs will be zero and all goods and services will be covered. 

It's a blow to UK Prime Minister Theresa May, who proposed keeping single market access to parts of the economy. 

While Mr. Tusk says he does not want to put up a wall with the UK, he says Brexit means it's inevitable trade between the EU and the UK will change.
