'FORMER RUSSIAN SPY' IN CRITICAL CONDITION IN UK HOSPITAL

A Russian national convicted of spying for Britain is reportedly critically ill in hospital after being exposed to an unknown substance at a UK shopping centre.

UK media report Sergei Skipal is the man who's now being treated in hospital - he was convicted in 2006 of spying for Britain.

Man critically ill in the UK from "unknown substance" exposure reported to be Russian spy

A man who is critically ill in hospital in the British city of Salisbury after being exposed to an unknown substance is a reported to be a Russian national who was convicted of spying for Britain. 


A man and a woman in her thirties were found in the city's shopping centre on Sunday afternoon and taken to hospital.  Police declared a major incident following their discovery as Catherine Drew reports from London.

Oscar winner 'should be treated cautiously' says Putin's spokesman

French prosecutors suspect jihadists infiltrated Burkina Faso army ahead of embassy attack

A French prosecutor and four investigators have arrived in Burkina Faso to look into the attack on the French embassy there that killed seven people on Friday, amid suspicions of complicity within the Burkinabe army.

UK WATER SUPPLIES DISRUPTED AFTER THAW

Thousands of UK households are facing water supply problems after cold weather thawed.

Water companies have reported low pressure, burst water mains and leaks and are advising customers to use as little water as possible.

In parts of London Thames Water has been handing out bottled water to households whose supplies have been completely cut.

It follows days of disruption last week caused by heavy snowfall and freezing conditions.

The 90th Academy Awards has been held in Los Angeles. 

The Shape of Water won Best Picture, while Frances McDormand picked up Best Actress for her role in Three Billboard Outside Ebbing Missouri. 

Best Actor went to Gary Oldman for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.

It's the first Oscars ceremony since the scandals of sexual misconduct in Hollywood.

Cardinal Pell case opens in Melbourne

Trump defends tariffs plans

President Trump is defending his plans to put tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

On Twitter, he said the US had been on the "losing side of almost all trade deals," and that America had been taken advantage of by both its "friends and enemies."

Mr Trump is proposing a ten-percent tariff on aluminum imports and a 25-percent tariff on steel imports.

Uganda Biometric Refugee Verification

The Ugandan government has launched a large-scale programme on to verify the identities of all refugees in the country.

Weinstein Co saved from bankruptcy in last minute deal

The Weinstein Company has been saved from bankruptcy in a last minute
deal - reportedly worth 500 million dollars.

The future of the movie company has been under question since Harvey
Weinstein was accused of sexual misconduct by around 80 women, as well

UN condemns Burkina Faso attack

Gunmen have launched coordinated attacks on at least two areas of Burkina Faso's capital.

The militants attacked the French embassy and the military headquarters in Ouagadougou.

At least 7 soldiers and 6 attackers have been killed, but the death is expected to rise.

The United Nations has condemned the incident.
