Hollywood: Affleck withdraws from Oscars; Weinstein sued by assistant

The Oscar winning actor, Casey Affleck, has withdrawn from presenting
at this year's Academy Awards.

It comes amid an anti-sexual harassment movement in Hollywood and beyond.

Meanwhile disgraced movie Mogul, Harvey Weinstein, is now being sued
by his former assistant.

Unicef warns of rising malnutrition among Venezuela's children

US slow down in Q4 drags 2017 growth

The US economy grew at a slower pace in the fourth quarter, dragging
down annual growth in 2017 to 2.3 percent.

UK Minister: Trade Talks to Start Right After Brexit

Reports: Trump attempted to fire Mueller last June

The White House is refusing to comment on reports that President Trump tried to fire the Special Prosecutor investigating ties between his election campaign team and the Russians.


The attempt was reportedly made last June, and only headed off when the top legal official at the White House threatened to resign.

President Trump ordered Robert Mueller to be fired, then backtracked- NYT

According to the New York Times President Donald Trump ordered the
firing of Special Council Robert Mueller- the man heading the
investigation into alleged Russian interference in U.S. politics.

Citing four unnamed sources, the paper states that the President
backtracked after the White House council threatened to resign.

The President's attorney handling the Russia probe says they are declining to comment out of respect for the Special Council and its process.

White House unveils immigration plan

The White House has laid out an immigration plan that could include a
path to citizenship for 1.8 million young immigrants.

The bill is expected to be unveiled Monday and comes despite President
Trump's decision last year to cancel the Obama-era program that
protects immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.

The President also wants a $25 billion fund for his proposed border
wall with Mexico to be included in the bill.

Dutch Report Their Intel Alerted US to Russian Hacking

Dutch intelligence services were the first to alert the United States about Russian hacking by the Cozy Bear network, according to media in the Netherlands.

The reports say that along with servers of the Democratic National Committee, they also uncovered Russian intrusions into the US State Department and the White House.

Senate Judiciary Committee to release transcripts

The U.S. Senate's Judiciary Committee chair has confirmed that he wants to release the transcripts of the interviews with key Trump insiders.

The interviews are tied to a June 2016 meeting between the Trump campaign and Russian citizens, one incident which raised eyebrows and questions of possible collusion, something Donald Trump has repeatedly denied.

US won't chase after Palestinians

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley says Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas doesn't have the courage or will to seek peace, and Washington won't chase after them.

Her comments come after U.S. President Donald threatened to take more financial aid away from the Palestinians and expressed his own skepticism that peace talks would actually happen.

PLO Secretary General Saeb Erekat posted, "Those who say that Jerusalem is off the table are saying that peace is off the table."

Pres. Trump throws cold water on Middle East talks

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his doubts that peace negotiations will ever take place between the Israelis and Palestinians.

He threw cold water on the prospects during a bilateral meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah, who praised the decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.

Head of EU asylum agency is under investigation

Jose Carreira, the executive director of EU's asylum agency, is under investigation from EU's anti-fraud office according to a document received by POLITICO.

US Sec of State Tillerson to Kurdistan
