Indian government to push ahead with Air India stake sale

The Indian government plans to move ahead with a stake sale in Air India, with hopes of concluding a deal by June, according to a local report.

The loss-making airline has guzzled large sums of taxpayers' money.

U.S. State Dept: Inter-Korean talks a good start, too early to know how meaningful

North and South Korea are holding talks for the first time in over two years.  

The negotiations taking place at the Demilitarized Zone are centering on North Korean athletes  participating in the upcoming Winter Olympics in South Korea.  

Seoul and Pyongyang are meeting as tensions continue to escalate over North Korea's weapons program and continued nuclear tests.

U.S. Vice-Pres says North/South Korea talks result of Trump's pressure campaign

North and South Korea have begun their first face-to-face talks in more than two years. 

Negotiators from both sides of the peninsula are meeting at the Demilitarized Zone in an area known as 'truce village'

It comes amid unprecedented tension in the region, and repeated calls from the Trump administration for Pyongyang to end its missile and nuclear tests.

The sit-down is expected to focus on North Korea's participation in next month's Winter Olympic Games being hosted by its neighbor.

Sharp drop in refugees admitted to the US under President Trump.

Only 5,000 refugees have been granted entry into the US in the first
months of the fiscal year under President Trump.

This follows the current administration's cap on admitting only 45,000
refugees for the whole of 2018 - the lowest ceiling since 1980.

White House: "Brilliant" Trump will not undergo psychiatric evaluation

US President Donald Trump will not undergo a psychiatric evaluation when doctors conduct a routine physical exam later this week.

Weather, climate disasters in US made 2017 worst year on record

Where it comes to damage from natural disasters in the US, 2017 was the most expensive year on record.


Hurricanes, also known as tropical cyclones, as well as wildfires were among catastrophes that caused a whopping $306 billion us dollars in damages, based on data from the US agency that tracks ocean and weather events.

Outrage in India over police case against journalist

After a breach in the world's largest biometric database was reported by a local newspaper, officials have filed a police case against the journalist who broke that story.

The government has called reports of the leak 'fake news'. Meanwhile, the Indian Supreme Court has urged Indian politicians not to stifle the freedom of the press.

Support for BBC's Carrie Gracie's resignation over pay inequality


Support has been pouring in for the former BBC China editor Carrie Gracie who stepped down from her position in a row over unequal pay.


In an open letter, the broadcaster who has been at the BBC for over 30 years said there was a culture of secretive and illegal pay at the corporation.
