Ethnic cleansing in Rakine State - Sec. Tillerson

The U.S. State Department says ethic cleansing is being undertaken against the Rohingya, according to a statement from U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

At least 600,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled Rakhine state in northern Myanmar for Bangladesh, telling stories of rape, murder, arson and further violence.

Mladic handed life sentence in The Hague

Former Bosnian Serb general Rakto Mladic has been given a life sentence for a string of crimes committed in the Bosnian war in the nineteen nineties. 

Once known as the Butcher of Bosnia, judges in The Hague say he bears a large part of the responsibility for the deaths of over 8000 muslims men and boys during the Srebrenica massacre.

Australia's Victoria set to legalise voluntary assisted dying

Australia's southern state of Victoria is likely to become the first state in the nation to legalise voluntary assisted dying.

70s 'teen heartthrob' David Cassidy dies at 67

70's teen heartthrob and actor David Cassidy has died at the age of 67. 

He passed away in Florida after experiencing liver and kidney failure. 

Cassidy rose to fame playing Keith Partridge from the musical sitcom "The Partridge Family," which ran from 1970 to 1974. 

He went on to build a successful career as a pop artist, recording several albums as a member of The Partridge Family as well as a solo artist.  

At one point, his fan club was reportedly bigger than Elvis Presley's and the Beatles. 

In recent years, Cassidy had been candid about his battle with alcohol and other personal problems.  Earlier this year he announced he suffered from dementia.

US Slaps Sanctions On Chinese, North Korean Organizations

The US imposed sanctions against 13 Chinese and North Korean
organizations Washington accused of helping to evade nuclear
restrictions against Pyongyang, and supporting the country with trade.
The action Tuesday comes one day after President Trump put North Korea

Australian Football coach quits ahead of the World Cup finals

Australia's football manager Ange Postecoglou has stood down after deciding not to continue in the post until the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia, which the Socceroos have just qualified for.

Pres. Trump speaks with Russian Pres. Putin

North Korea and Syria topped the agenda for a nearly hour-long telephone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

UK welcomes Mugabe's departure

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has described the resignation of Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe as 'a moment of hope" for the country as it comes to terms with the departure of the long-term president. 

British Prime Minister Theresa May also welcomed Mr Mugabe's resignation from the post he's held for 37 years, saying it was an opportunity to rebuild Zimbabwe's economy.   She added as the country's oldest friend, the UK would work with regional partners to help Zimbabwe achieve the brighter future it deserves.

DC office for PLO under discussion - State Dept.

The U.S. State Department says the office of the Palestinian Liberation Organization in Washington is being discussed, but no decision has been taken to shut the office.

Earlier, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas said shutting the office would be unprecedented and could have dangerous consequences for the peace process with the Israelis.

British Government offers 40 billion sterling to fund Brexit

The British government is now proposing a substantial increase in the payment the UK will make to Brussels to finance the country's exit from the European Union.
