The U.S. State Department says the office of the Palestinian Liberation Organization in Washington is being discussed, but no decision has been taken to shut the office.
Earlier, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas said shutting the office would be unprecedented and could have dangerous consequences for the peace process with the Israelis.
U.S. State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said a decision hasn't been taken, the situation is still under discussion.
