UN Security Council to vote on fresh DPRK sanctions

The United Nations Security Council will vote Monday on a resolution to impose fresh sanctions on North Korea over its latest nuclear test.


The proposed sanctions include progressive restrictions on oil sales and a ban on textile exports.

UN human rights chief slams body for not taking responsibility in Yemen seriously

The United Nations human rights chief says he's concerned by the lack
of accountability regarding the conflict in Yemen.

The UN estimate that over 5,000 civilians have died in the two-year
conflict- blaming most casualties on air strikes conducted by the
Saudi-led coalition.

UN and Pope concerned by Trump decision to scrap DACA

The United Nations top human rights official and the Pope have voiced concern at US President Trump's decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program - or DACA.

The UN's Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein is urging the United States Congress to give immigrants who arrived illegally as children lasting legal status in the country.

Trump Marks 9/11 Anniversary

US President Donald Trump has been marking the sixteenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001.

Almost three thousand people died when hijackers crashed planes into the Twin Towers in New York, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania.

US to lend drones to Phillipines military

The U.S. military will deploy drones to southern Phillipines to boost the fight against a group affiliated with the Islamic State.

UN: Rohingya response “textbook ethnic cleansing”

The United Nations has warned the violence directed towards Rohingya Muslims in northern Myanmar is a "textbook example of ethnic cleansing".

More than 300,000 people have fled to neighboring Bangladesh following a flare up in fighting between insurgents and the government.

Two more Germans detained in Turkey

UK MPs to Vote on Controversial Brexit Legislation


British MPs will vote on a key legislation to convert all existing EU laws into domestic UK laws, to avoid legal uncertainty after Brexit.

Hundreds of thousands expected to rally for independence in Barcelona

Hurricane Irma makes landfall near Naples, Florida

Hurricane Irma officially made landfall as a Category 3 storm, coming ashore at Marco Island south of Naples on the west side of the Florida peninsula.

Flooding is reported in Miami, and two building cranes have been snapped as concerns rise about the mounting costs of this massive storm.
