Johnson & Johnson ordered to pay $417mln in ovarian cancer lawsuit


The company Johnson & Johnson is being ordered to pay $417-million-dollars in a baby powder lawsuit. 

The verdict, by a Los Angeles court, was for the case of an ovarian cancer patient who said her disease was caused by using the product for decades.

Afghan president welcomes US military commitment, Taliban condemns it

Afghan president Ashraf Ghani has thanked US President Donald Trump for his decision to commit US troops to an open-ended conflict to fight against the resurgent Taliban.

UN urges Iraq to protect civilians in battle to retake Telafar, esp Yazidi women and girls

As military operations are under way to retake the Iraqi city of Telafar from the Islamic State group, the United Nations has raised concerns about the safety of thousands of civilians fleeing the fighting.

Human remains found in US Navy Destroyer search

The US Navy have found human remains inside the USS John S. McCain, the ship which collided with a merchant vessel this week.

Cambridge University reverses China censorship

Cambridge University has reversed a move to censor politically sensitive articles about China in one of its academic journals.

The country's government had demanded access be blocked to three hundred papers, prompting calls for an academic boycott.
