Several killed in shooting at Moscow court

LEAD:


Several defendants have been killed at a court in Moscow as they tried to grab firearms from court security officers, and take hostages.  The Russian Interior Ministry said the defendants were on trial for organised crime, without identifying them.  Julia Lyubova has more.

Hackers target HBO - media reports that "Game of Thrones" script stolen

Hackers have stolen as yet unbroadcast programming from US cable channel HBO.

A script for an unaired episode of hit fantasy show "Game of Thrones" is among the items taken according to Entertainment Weekly magazine.

US lacks strategy as North Korea makes missile progress

The Trump administration appears to lack a strategy for dealing with the growing threat of North Korea's nuclear and missile capabilities.

Missile experts belive last week's launch proves North Korea can build a missile which could reach the continental United States, but they are still working on delivering a weapon.

US begins to scale back diplomatic presence in Russia

The US has begun removing furniture and equipment from diplomatic properties in Moscow following a Kremlin order to slash American presence in Russia.

President Vladimir Putin ordered the US to cut 755 embassy staff in response to a new round of Russian sanctions approved by Congress last week.

African Union Sends Observer Mission to Kenya

Malema Racism Comments Sparks Outrage.

Mr Malema's comments have been criticized by several opposition groups in South Africa as segregatory.

Over the weekend, Malema charged at the Indian Community living in KwaZulu-Natal province saying they are cruel and under pay South African workers.

Malema was speaking at The EFF's fourth anniversary.

Malema demanded  for a minimum wage saying the mistreatment of South Africans must end.

His party, the EFF is backing Malema and condemned the exploitation of Africans suffer in the hands of Indians.

Rudd to warn internet companies to take action over extremist content


British Home Secretary Amber Rudd is due to tell social media giants such as Facebook, Twitter and Microsoft that new laws could be introduced to try to prevent the hosting of extremist online content.

Trial for Nearly 500 Starts in Turkey

Record number of Germans have foreign roots

Blue Whale Suicide game suspected to be behind Indian teen's death

A 14-year-old Mumbai boy has killed himself by jumping from a high-rise building. Authorities are now probing whether or not he was playing the Blue Whale challenge where players are asked to complete 50 tasks in 50 days, with the last challenge being suicide. 

The game has claimed over 100 lives in Russia and the UK so far.

Fresh legal questions for Pres. Trump - Washington Post

Venezuelan opposition condemns assembly vote

Venezuela's attorney general has condemned Sunday's controversial election of a constituent assembly.

Attorney General Luisa Ortega has described the vote as "the end of freedom of expression."

The members of the new legislative body, which could replace the opposition-led National Assembly, will be nominated by President Nicolás Maduro's government, and will have the power to redraft the country's constitution handing him more powers.

US sanctions Venezuelan President Maduro

The US is imposing new sanctions on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

It follows weekend elections for a new constituent assembly to redraft the country's constitution allowing Maduro to consolidate power.

The US and other countries have described the vote as illegitimate.

White House: Scaramucci comments "inappropriate; all staff report to General Kelly

Ousted White House communications director Antony Scaramucci no longer has any Administration role, just days after getting the job. 
In a magazine interview Scaramucci had directed a tirade at other members of Trump's team which the president's press secretary said he found "inappropriate".

The White House has announced new sanctions on Venezuela. In a briefing today, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said sanctions are being directed at President Nicolas Maduro. US National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster also spoke condemning civil rights abuses in Venezuela. Mnuchin described Maduro as a dictator.

Los Angeles to host 2028 Olympics
