UK parliament reopens amid Brexit concerns

Britain's opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn has criticized the governments legislative agenda of lacking ambition during the first debate in the the parliamentary session. 

This follows the State Opening by Queen Elizabeth the Second, who unveiled the Conservative government's legislative agenda for the next two years.     Of the 27  bills revealed, 8 relate to Brexit, smoothing the way for Britain's exit from the European Union. 

Labour's Jeremy Corbyn mocked the Conservative minority government for dropping many of their key election pledges and urged Prime Minister Theresa May to assure people that the government would not pursue various spending cuts.

GRENFELL SURVIVORS TO MOVE TO LUXURY FLATS

Survivors of the Grenfell Tower blaze will be re-housed in a luxury development in one of London's most exclusive areas.

Brexit dominates the State Opening of Parliament

Eight new pieces of legislation to smooth the UK's exit from the European Union have been included in the Queen's Speech, a legislative to-do list which the government writes for the monarch to read at the State Opening of Parliament.

Travis Kalanick out as UBER CEO

Travis Kalanick is no longer the CEO of UBER, the ride hailing company, but he will remain on the board of directors.

Investors made it clear he should leave as they consider taking the company public.

QUEEN'S SPEECH PRIORITISES BREXIT, LEAVES OUT TRUMP

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has read out a legislative programme for the UK government which prioritised the issue of Brexit.

The Queen's Speech was written by the Conservative government of embattled Prime Minister Theresa May.

There was no mention of a state visit to the UK by US President Donald Trump which suggests it is unlikely to happen in the near future.

The Conservative Party has not yet finalised an arrangement with the DUP party of Northern Ireland to prop up Theresa May's minority government.

But the Queen confirmed the top issue for Mrs May.

Duke of Edinburgh in Hospital

Queen Elizabeth II's husband, The Duke of Edinburgh, has been admitted to hospital according to Buckingham Palace.


Prince Philip is said to have been taken into hospital on Tuesday night which is why he has been absent from the Queen's Speech ceremony - which is where the UK Government sets out its new legislative programme

Indians in Saudi Arabia to be hit by "family tax"

A number of Indians based in Saudi Arabia are planning to send family members home, with a new expat "family tax" due to come into effect.

Helmut Kohl's public memorial will be held in France

The boss of Uber Travis Kalanick is stepping aside after a number of scandals at the firm.

He will remain on the board of the ride-hailing company.

Uber has had to put in place a review of its practices and has faced a series of sexual assault claims.

India arrests 15 for cheering Pakistan's cricket win

Fifteen Muslim men have been arrested in the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh for shouting pro-Pakistan slogans. The men were reportedly celebrating India's loss against Pakistan in the finals of the Champions Trophy.

They have been booked for sedition and have been denied bail.

Activists in India often accuse governments of misusing the draconian sedition rule to stifle dissent of any kind.
