Woods blames prescription medications for arrest

Golfer Tiger Woods is denying that alcohol was involved in his arrest on charges of driving under the influence.

The 14-time major champion is blaming an "unexpected reaction to prescribed medications."

Woods has undergone several back surgeries and has not won a major title in nearly a decade.

Colombia grants more time for FARC guerrilla members to disarm

Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos announced that the country's largest guerrilla group the FARC will have an extra 20 days to hand over their weapons. 

According to President Santos the additional time was granted in order to safeguard the peace agreement that was reached in Cuba late last year.

EU will provide free wifi across Europe

The European Union will set aside 120 million euros to provide free wifi access in public areas throughout Europe.

The initiative will give 8,000 communities free wifi access by the year 2020.

Former Panama dictator Manuel Noriega has died at the age of 83.

A government official in Panama says Noriega passed away Monday in a Panama City hospital where he was recovering from surgery for a brain tumor.

BA operations full flight schedule after IT failure



British Airways says it is now running a full flight schedule, after a three day disruption, caused by an IT system failure.


Thousands of BA flights were cancelled over a busy bank holiday weekend period and some passengers are still waiting to be reunited with their luggage.

Cyclone Mora makes landfall in Bangladesh, one million people being evacuated

Heavy rains and winds accompanied the arrival of Cyclone Mora in South Bangladesh. It is expected to weaken in the next 24 hours as it moves towards north-east India.

Wind speeds in Bangladesh have touched 135 km/hour. Thousands of homes have been destroyed.

The cyclone formed after monsoon rains triggered floods and landslides in Sri Lanka, killing 180 people.

Queensland Policeman shot dead - his killer also dies following a siege

In Australia, Queensland Police have described slain officer Brett Forte as a fine son, a great young bloke and a husband and father who went to work and didn't come home.
