Cyclone Mora makes landfall in Bangladesh, one million people being evacuated

Heavy rains and winds accompanied the arrival of Cyclone Mora in South Bangladesh. It is expected to weaken in the next 24 hours as it moves towards north-east India.

Wind speeds in Bangladesh have touched 135 km/hour. Thousands of homes have been destroyed.

The cyclone formed after monsoon rains triggered floods and landslides in Sri Lanka, killing 180 people.
