Cyclone Mora makes landfall in Bangladesh, one million people being evacuated

Heavy rains and winds accompanied the arrival of Cyclone Mora in South Bangladesh. It is expected to weaken in the next 24 hours as it moves towards north-east India.

Wind speeds in Bangladesh have touched 135 km/hour. Thousands of homes have been destroyed.

The cyclone formed after monsoon rains triggered floods and landslides in Sri Lanka, killing 180 people.

Refugee mother jailed for 20 years for killing three of her children

Queensland Policeman shot dead - his killer also dies following a siege

In Australia, Queensland Police have described slain officer Brett Forte as a fine son, a great young bloke and a husband and father who went to work and didn't come home.
The respected officer was killed and others received minor injuries after "wanted man" Rick Maddison, evaded police at a traffic stop in the Lockyer Valley west of Brisbane the day before.

ECB says Greece can't access economic stimulation measures

CAS rules 6 Russian athletes to remain suspended over doping

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) extended provisional suspension for six Russian cross-country skiers until October this year. The athletes, implicated in the World Anti-Dopig Agency's (WADA) report on Russia's massive doping fraud, were banned by the International Ski Federation (FIS) last December. Modi, Merkel meet over informal dinner

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Germany for a two day bilateral visit. German Chancellor Angela Merkel hosted PM Modi at her official country retreat near Berlin.

President Trump condemns Oregon attack

US military plans anti-missile test
