AQAP rallying followers to retaliate against US over Yemen raid


Al Qaeda's branch in Yemen is rallying its followers to retaliate against the US over a controversial raid that killed several of its senior members, as well as civilians. 


The call to arms also comes amid a dispute in the US over who was responsible for the raid that also killed a US Navy Seal.

UN Calls for Action Over Civilian Casualties in Afghanistan

The United Nations is calling on all parties involved in fighting in Afghanistan to take urgent steps to stop the killing and maiming of civilians.

It comes as a new reports has revealed that conflict-related casualties there hit a record high in 2016, with a third of those killed or wounded reported to be children.

Health crisis deepens in Venezuela

Venezuela's health crisis is getting worse, with AIDS drugs being in particularly short supply.

Venezuelans have appealed to the Global Fund for emergency relief to obtain more drugs, but the country's status as high income, according to the World Bank, means they don't qualify for help - despite the lack of food on store shelves and the Venezuelan currency being in free fall.

China protests US sanctions slapped on Iran

China has lodged a protest with the United States in connection to the
sanctions Washington has placed on Iran.

The move was made by the Trump administration following last week's
ballistic missile test and several Chinese companies are included in

Human trafficking to the US rose by over 35% in 2016

Human trafficking in the US had an uptick of nearly 36 percent in
2016, according to a report from the National Human Trafficking
Hotline.

Tech firms join together to target Trump travel ban

Lawyers for tech firms have banded together to file a legal brief opposing President Donald Trump's temporary travel ban, arguing that it would harm their companies by making it more difficult to recruit employees.

The brief, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, included Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter.

Extremists targeting child refugees


Child refugees are being targeted by extremist groups, according to research by a UK-based think tank.


The Quilliam Foundation believes many of these under 18s are at risk of being radicalised, warning that groups such as the Islamic State and Boko Haram are attempting to recruit in return for financial incentives.
