Tensions Raised After Black Killings.

Police officers in the USA say interactions with black people have
become more tense following police killings of unarmed black men.

The killings led to nationwide protests and the rise of the "Black
Lives Matter" movement.

US designates Indonesia-based Jamaah Ansharut Daulah as terrorist group

The United States has named the Indonesia-based extremist network Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (Ja-MAH-ah ahn-SHAH-root DAH-oo-lah) as a terrorist group.


The designation allows the US government to block its funding and comes as part of a broader effort to crack down on ISIL's reach into Southeast Asia and Australia.

Rex Tillerson faces questions in US Secretary of State confirmation hearing

Donald Trump's pick for Secretary of State has said it's a fair assumption that Vladimir Putin  knew of the Russian hacks into the recent US election, but Rex Tillerson refused to call President Putin a 'war criminal' when pressed.

The former boss of ExxonMobil was being grilled by the Senate Foreign Select Committee as they try to determine his suitability for the role of America's top diplomat.

Trump slams Russia blackmail tape claims

U.S. President Elect Donald Trump has slammed unsubstantiated claims that the Kremlin has compromising tapes and information on him, dating back to a 2003 trip to Moscow.

The incoming president did concede that Russia was  behind a series of hacking attacks aimed at damaging his rival Hillary Clinton's chances in the presidential election.
He also rejected accusations his businesses represent a conflict of interests, inisting his family will be in charge.

In his first press conference in a half a year, Donald Trump has 
decried reports of collusion between his campaign and Moscow as "fake news".

He also admitted he believes Russia was behind hacks of the Democratic National Committee leading up to the US presidential election. 

The President Elect told reporters that his enemies are propogating "phony" reports of his dealings with Moscow.

In his first press conference since July, Donald Trump said his administration will submit a plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act as soon as his nominee for Health and Human secretary is approved.

Despite many senators saying the process of replacing the ACA - known as Obamacare- would take years, the President Elect said he plans to repeal and replace the act simultaneously.

But he stressed Obamacare is the "Democrats' problem" and any issues with its repeal will lie with them.

Rolf Harris faces fresh sex attack charges

Australian TV entertainer Rolf Harris has appeared in court via video link to face charges that he carried out a series of sexual assaults on women and girls in attacks that spanned 30 years.

US troops arrive in Poland

The U.S. military says the deployment of troops and weapons to Poland is part of American efforts to send a message to Russia, to deter aggression.

As part of NATO training exercises, thousands of American soldiers and their required equipment have arrived in a small town in Poland.

Trump adviser denies President-elect was warned by US intelligence about Russia dossier

Donald Trump has again dismissed reports that Russia may have compromising materials relating to his personal and business affairs as "fake news", and one of his top advisers is denying that the President-elect was briefed by intelligence officials on the issue.


Mr. Trump is due to hold a news conference in New York shortly.


His chief of staff, Reince Priebus, told NBC News that Mr. Trump was not warned by US intelligence about the existence of a dossier detailing unsubstantiated reports of Russian surveillance operations against him.

US mulls response to DPRK ICBM threat

U.S. Defence Secretary Ashton Carter says the Pentagon has options on whether it might shoot down an ICBM launched by North Korea.

German asylum seeker arrivals dropped sharply in 2016

Some two hundred eighty thousand migrants arrived in Germany seeking asylum last year, a sharp decrease from twenty fifteen.

The country's interior minister said the EU-Turkey refugee deal and the closure of the Balkan route were responsible for the reduced figures.

UK PM defends accusations of humanitarian crisis within NHS

The UK's Labour Party is increasing pressure on the British government to do more to reduce waiting times in its National Health Service.

N.Ireland Secretary in talks with political parties

Greece holding hearing on extradition requests for Turkish air force officers

Judges in Greece are hearing submissions in a controversial case involving eight Turkish air force officers who are alleged to have taken part in July's failed coup attempt.
