First Afghans deported from Germany arrive in Kabul

A plan carrying thirty four failed asylum seekers arrived in Afghanistan from Germany.

The men were the first to be deported under a recently-signed agreement between the two countries.

Rebels Declare New Aleppo Evacuation Deal

Rebel groups in eastern Aleppo say a deal to evacuate the Syrian city has been agreed, after another agreement failed.

Under the terms of the previous deal, brokered by Russia and Turkey, rebel fighters and civilians were supposed to leave early on Wednesday, but that didn't happen.

UN says Syrian government blocking aid deliveries in Eastern Aleppo

US President-elect Donald Trump promised to do "anything we can do" to help technology companies during a meeting with Silicon Valley leaders on Wednesday.

Mr Trump clashed with the tech industry on several issues, including immigration and government surveillance, during his election campaign.

But the Republican appears to be courting their advice now and has added the bosses of Uber and SpaceX to one of his advisory boards.

South Sudan on verge of all-out ethnic civil war, warns UN human rights expert

The South Sudan conflict is on the verge of descending into an all-out ethnic civil war, the United Nations human rights council heard Wednesday.

The grave warning came as South Sudan's President Salva Kirr called for a national dialogue and a stop to hate speech.

BA cabin crew vote for strike action over pay

Around two thousand British Airways cabin crew have voted to take strike action in a dispute over pay after rejecting a 2 per cent pay rise.

China and Trump in war of words over Taiwan

China has warned that any attempt by the new U.S. administration  to cultivate deeper relations with Taiwan would damage relations with Beijing.

Under China's 'One China Policy', Taiwan is not recognized as an independent state, but rather as part of mainland China.

European Parliament suspends cash payment to UKIP, says party has been misusing public funds

Germany to begin deporting Afghans

A plane carrying about fifty rejected asylum seekers back to Afghanistan is expected to take off from Germany on Wednesday.

The flight comes amidst concerns that they may face danger upon returning to their home country.

Aleppo evacuation delayed as ceasefire holds

It's reported the evacuation of remaining rebel fighters and civilians from the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo has been delayed...

A ceasefire between rebels and the government was agreed on Tuesday, but there remains confusion. 

Evacuations were due to begin in the early hours on Wednesday but a fleet of government busses brought in is yet to leave. 

The ceasefire comes following a UN report that civilians left in the remaining rebel-held areas in the east of the city had been killed "on the spot".
