Donald Trump appears to be holding an advantage in the race for the White House.

US networks have projected he will win the large swing state of Florida and Ohio.

Hillary Clinton has been projected to win Virginia and Colorado.

US Markets futures have plunged as Wall Street absorbs the unexpected closeness of the race and the possibility of a Trump presidency.

Polls have begun to close on the eastern part of the United States, marking the closing stages of  a highly contentious US presidential election.  

Media organizations are projecting initial victories for Trump in the  Republican strongholds of Kentucky and Indiana.

Polling data gives the edge to Hillary Clinton in several battleground states like Florida, Pennsylvania  and Virginia.

Polls Begin to Close in US eastern states

Polls in the US presidential election have begun to close on the eastern  coast, with early  results trickling  in over the next few hours.

Media organizations are projecting victories for Trump in the  Republican strongholds of Kentucky and Indiana, while Hillary Clinton is expected to win in the Democrat stronghold of Vermont.

Voting experts say Hillary Clinton has a greater chance of winning enough states to take her over the finish line.

But there remain several unpredictable swing states in which Donald Trump could do better  than expected, though  his  path  to victory is narrower overall.

Polling experts say there are strong signals of a very high turnout among Hispanic voters in the US presidential elections.

But Donald Trump has attracted large numbers of white working class voters who are disenchanted with the political  establishment.

Trump campaign files lawsuit over voting hours

against against the voter registrar in Clark Country Nevada.

The Trump team claim an early voting polling station stayed open
longer than state law permits but a judge has rejected an attempt to
have some ballots impounded.

Republicans Divided Over Reaction to Possible Clinton Victory

Kenya lawyer brings interactive tech for US elections to monitor voter fraud & harassment

Trump casts his vote

Donald Trump has cast his vote, soon after his running mate, Indiana governor Mike Pence, cycled to his local polling station. 

Both the Republican presidential nominee,  and his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, cast their votes Tuesday in New York.

And both candidates spent the morning giving media interviews in states still up for grabs.

Donald Trump told reporters his prospects for the White House, were "looking very good."
