Australian Senator stands down after funding by Chinese company scandal

Not wanting to pay a bill has cost Australia's rising star Labor Senator Sam Dastyari his job on the opposition frontbench.
Senator Dastyari announced he would stand down from his role following the furore over the bill being paid by a Chinese company on his behalf.

The two US Presidential candidates have laid out and defended their military plans at a televised town hall event in New York.

It was the first time in this campaign Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have shared the same stage, but they did not appear at the same time.

They answered questions from veterans about fighting terrorism, suicide in the military, and their ability to lead America.

Hillary Clinton said she would not send American troops to directly fight against ISIS.

Mexico: Finance Secretary Resigns over Trump's visit


Mexican Finance Secretary Luis Videgaray has resigned one week after US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump met with the Mexican president. 

Mr. Videgaray reportedly was the one to originally advise President Enrique Peña Nieto to invite Mr. Trump to the country.

US Congress argues over Zika funding

The U.S. House of Representatives has taken up the battle over funding efforts to combat Zika, after legislation failed in the U.S. Senate.

The funding bill is hung up on amendments concerning women's health and contraception provisions.

Highlighting that lifetime care for a baby with microcephaly, one of the complications of ZIka, can cost millions, the Minority leader of the U.S. House of Representatives says the efforts to prevent further spread of the epidemic must be fully funded.

Kofi Annan-led panel visits buddhists, Rohingya communities in Myanmar's Rakhine State

A panel led by former UN chief Kofi Annan has begun a visit to Myanmar's Rakhine (rak-hain) State in the hope of ending abuses and violence against Rohingya (roh-hihn-JAH) Muslims.

Irish finance ministers defends his country's tax system in fallout of EU Apple ruling

The Irish finance minister says criticism of his country's tax system is outdated and unfair after the European Union ruled against a tax agreement between Ireland and Apple.
