Opposition protests in Venezuela

Venezuela's opposition has called on its supporters to hold a country-wide protest Wednesday.

The goal is to put pressure on the National Electoral Board to set a realistic date for a recall referendum to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

Trump calls for billions more in military spending [WRAP and clips]

Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, has announced a ten-point plan to boost America's military and create jobs for its workers in the process.

He pledged to boost the U.S. army to 540,000 troops, while expanding the navy, air force and marines-  and upgrading their equipment as well.

Donald Trump is gaining ground, as the presidential polls tighten, just two months before the U.S. elecion.

UN: 50 million children displaced by conflict, poverty in latest UNICEF report

Kofi Annan-led panel visits buddhists, Rohingya communities in Myanmar's Rakhine State

A panel led by former UN chief Kofi Annan has begun a visit to Myanmar's Rakhine (rak-hain) State in the hope of ending abuses and violence against Rohingya (roh-hihn-JAH) Muslims. 


The nine-member panel was commissioned by the Myanmar government under Aung San Suu Kyi (ong sahn soo chee), but their reception on the ground was mixed.

The UK's Prime Minister Theresa May says the British government will not provide a running commentary on Brexit negotiations...

Updating MPs following the G20 summit, she said a number of countries - including India, Singapore, Mexico and Australia - had expressed interest in forging new trade deals.

Irish finance ministers defends his country's tax system in fallout of EU Apple ruling

The Irish finance minister says criticism of his country's tax system is outdated and unfair after the European Union ruled against a tax agreement between Ireland and Apple.

Parliamentarians in Dublin have been recalled early to debate the EU ruling which orders Apple to repay the Irish government over 14 billion dollars.

UK and Australia discuss new post-Brexit trade deal

The UK and Australia have begun "preliminary talks" about a free trade deal...

Corsica Court Rules to Keep Burkini Ban

UK TO BUILD A 'BIG WALL' AT CALAIS

The UK is to construct a large wall in the French port town of Calais to prevent migrants causing disruption while trying to get to Britain.

The wall will go on either side of the main road leading to the ferry port at Calais.

It's part of a package of measures agreed by Britain and France to deal with an ongoing migrant crisis in and around the town.

Earlier this week locals protested about the effects of the so-called 'Jungle' migrant camp at Calais which holds thousands of people.

Man Admits Killing 11 Year Old Jacob Wetterling Over Two Decades Later

A man in the US state of Minnesota, who led authorities to the buried remains of an 11 year old last week, has now admitted to abducting and killing him - nearly 27 years after the boy disappeared.

53 year old Danny Heinrich from Minnesota made the admission while pleading guilty to charges over child abuse images, in court in Minneapolis.

Cosby trial date set for June 2017

Entertainer Bill Cosby will stand trial on charges of sexual assault
in June 2017- that's the date set by a judge in Pennsylvania at a
pre-trial hearing.

At least 50 women have accused Mr Cosby, including one who says the
79-year-old drugged and molested her at his home in Philadelphia.
