AB InBev ups its offer for SABMiller as takeover stalls post Brexit

The worlds biggest brewer,  Ab InBev has upped its offer for the worlds second largest brewer, SABMiller in what the former says is its final offer for the company.   

The proposed takeover, which  could be the world's third largest corporate takeover in history, has been hampered by currency falls post-Brexit.    From London Catherine Drew reports

First baby born in Europe with microcephaly due to Zika

A woman in Spain infected with the Zika virus has given birth to a baby with microcephaly, the first such birth in Europe.
Doctors detected the brain disease in the foetus in May but the couple decided to keep the baby.

UK BANKS WARN OF CHARGES ON DEPOSITS

British banks are warning businesses they may have to start charging them to hold deposits, due to historically low interest rates.

Natwest and Royal Bank of Scotland have sent a letter to over a million customers informing them charges may be applied to accounts which are in credit.

It comes with UK interest rates at 0.5% and expected to fall lower as the Bank of England tries to stabilise the economy following the Brexit vote.

JAPAN KNIFE ATTACK LEAVES 19 DEAD

Nineteen people have been stabbed to death in a knife attack at a care centre for people with mental health issues in Japan.

It's the worst mass killing in the country in decades.

It happened in the city of Sagamihara.

A former employee at the care centre has been arrested after handing himself in to police.

He reportedly told officers he wanted disabled people to 'disappear'.

Turkish deputy PM on visit in Moscow

ISIS releases possible video of Germany bomber

Uproar has broken out on the floor of the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia, where supporters of Bernie Sanders are booing every single mention of Hillary Clinton's name.

The convention got underway just 24 hours after leaked Democratic Party e-mails showed that party leaders had worked behind the scenes to engineer Senator Sanders' defeat in the primary elections earlier this year.

DKNY to relocate back to New York after sale by LVMH

No comment from White House on Democrats' woes

The White House is saying little on the political scandal developing as the Democratic Party convention gets underway in Philadelphia.

The party chair was forced to resign after embarassing emails were posted on Wikileaks, showing that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz favored Hillary Clinton's candidacy over Bernie Sanders.

Donna Brazile, a long-time party operative, has been named interim chair, and at the White House, Josh Earnest refused to comment further.

US screening helps protect against attacks - White House

The White House believes that the extensive screening of refugees helps prevent possible attacks such has been recently seen in Germany, to where tens of thousands of Syrian refugees have fled.

Two deportation orders were issued for the Syrian man who detonated a bomb at a music festival in Ansbach, Germany, where 15 were injured.

The U.S. has been criticized for accepting few refugees from the Middle East, but White House spokesman Josh Earnest says, the rigourous screening process is key.
