Number of displaced people reaches new high

Cameron must abandon pledge to reduce UK net migration, Vote Leave says

The UK Prime Minister David Cameron must abandon his 'impossible' pledge to reduce net migration to below 100,000 if he wins the EU referendum, Vote Leave has said.

Labour MP Gisela Stuart, the Leave campaign's co-chair said promising to control the numbers of people arriving the UK and failing to deliver was 'corrosive' of public trust in politicians.

The British public will cast their vote this week, whether the UK should leave or remain in the European Union.

UK Parliament Recalled for MP tributes

British politicians have been called back from recess for the EU referendum to pay tribute to MP Jo Cox, who was killed in her constituency on Thursday.

MPs from different parties may decide to sit mixed together, as opposed to in their own parties, as a sign of unity.

Human rights watchdog says Turkish troops shot refugees on border

Eight Syrian refugees have been shot dead by Turkish border guards as they tried to escape war-torn northern Syria, according to human rights watchdog.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says a total of 60 Syrian refugees have been shot at the border since the start of the year.

'REMAIN' BOOSTED IN UK REFERENDUM POLLS

European stock markets opened sharply higher and the British pound rose against the dollar in early trading, as fears of a Brexit eased.

Latest polls suggest the REMAIN camp has been boosted in recent days ahead of Britain's EU referendum on Thursday.

It follows the murder of MP Jo Cox last week, who was campaigning for the UK to remain an EU member.

Meanwhile, a former chairman of the Conservative Party, Baroness Warsi (VAR-SEE) has switched sides to REMAIN, after a controversial pro-BREXIT poster featuring refugees was released by the UK Independence Party, as Theo Usherwood reports.

At Least 11 Children Dead After Storm Hits Russian Boating Lake

MAN CHARGED WITH KILLING UK MP APPEARS IN COURT

The man charged with killing British MP Jo Cox has identified himself in court as 'Death to Traitors, Freedom for Britain'.

52 year-old Thomas Mair has been charged with murder as well as grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon.

He's been remanded in custody.

Jo Cox was shot and stabbed in her own constituency on Thursday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that a decision by the athletics world governing body to continue the ban on Russia competing internationally, because of allegations of doping, is unfair.

Speaking to reporters in St. Petersburg, Mr. Putin criticised the decision to stop all the athletes from competing, rather than certain individuals.
