EURO 2016 TO BEGIN AMID TIGHT SECURITY
In the run-up to the European Championships, there's been widespread industrial action in France over proposed labour reforms.
The tournament starts with France vs Romania at the Stade de France in Paris.
There is a huge security operation in place across the country with France on high alert for terrorism.
On Thursday there were brawls between supporters and police in Marseille after England fans were reportedly targeted by locals.

Muhammad Ali to be laid to rest on Friday

UN panel says Irish woman's rights were violated after late-term abortion overseas
The United Nations is seeking justice for an Irish national who had to
have a late-term abortion in the United Kingdom.
The anonymous woman told the UN that she suffered through
discrimination for her choice to terminate pregnancy - illegal in the
Catholic country.

Qatar summons U.S. Ambassador to explain video of soldiers laughing near flag
The American Ambassador to Qatar has apologized for a video posted on
social media showing two American soldiers laughing in front of both
nations' flags.
Qatar hosts the largest U.S. air base in the Middle East with about
10,000 military personnel.

U.S.-backed Forces Advance On IS Militants At Syrian Turkish Border

route in and out of the city of Manbij, their stronghold in the area.

Obama endorses Hillary Clinton for President
President Obama has endorsed Hillary Clinton for the US Presidency.
He says "there's never been" anyone so qualified to hold America's top office.
The move came after an apparently fruitless Oval Office meeting with Senator Bernie Sanders, who has failed to concede in the race for the Democratic Party's nomination.
The President's endorsement came in a video posted on Mrs. Clinton's website.

There is no official confirmation on the number of fallen soldiers.
Coletta Wanjohi reports from Addis Ababa:
Al-Shabab militants claimed Thursday that its fighters killed 60 soldiers during an attack on a military base of Ethiopian soldiers serving with an African Union force in Somalia.
However, the Ethiopian government has not confirmed that any soldiers were killed.
Lt. Col. Joe Kibet, spokesman for the African Union's AMISOM force, dismissed al-Shabab's numbers as a "falsehood."
He says AMISOM forces killed 110 Al-Shabab militants and captured their weapons during the attempted attack.
