CONSERVATIVE PARTY SPLITS DEEPEN OVER EU

Divisions are opening further in Britain's ruling Conservative Party as the EU referendum campaign heats up.

Justice Secretary Michael Gove is setting out his vision of life for Britain outside the EU - and he has harsh words for his cabinet colleagues who want Britain to remain a member.

A major speech from Mr Gove follows claims set out by Finance Minister George Osborne that a Brexit would leave Britain's economy 6% smaller by 2030 than it would be if it stays in the European Union.

Mr Osborne's critics say his figures don't add up and accuse the REMAIN camp of scaremongering ahead of a June referendum.

Political reporter Theo Usherwood says Mr Gove's speech represents the latest evidence of splits among Conservatives.
