EUROPEAN SHARES TUMBLE

European stock markets have been trading sharply lower as concerns persist about the health of the global economy.

Asian shares fell earlier, after comments from US Federal Reserve boss Janet Yellen which were gloomier than expected on the health of the American economy.

Firms like miner Rio Tinto and French bank Societe Generale have been under pressure in European trade after disappointing financial results.

Russia puts Mikhail Khodokovsky on Interpol's wanted list

Russian media reports Mikhail Khodorkovsky, former oligarch turned one of Vladimir Putin's most vocal critics, has been put on the international wanted list by Interpol's Russia office. '4 YR OLD BRITISH BOY' IN ISIS EXECUTION VIDEO

A boy thought to be British and four years old has appeared in a new Islamic State video, apparently detonating a bomb which kills four prisoners.

He's thought to be Isa Dare - son of a woman from London who converted to Islam and traveled to Syria three years ago.

The video also contains an ISIS commander making threats against Britain.

NATO reinforces Eastern borders against threat from Russia

Los Angeles Schools Close Doors To Immigration Agents

In response to the US federal government raids announced at the beginning of this year to apprehend undocumented Central American immigrants, public schools in Los Angeles, California say they will not allow immigration authorities to enter the campuses. About 50 percent of the student body in LA is Hispanic.

CDC reveals strongest link to date that Zika causes birth defects

One of the US's most senior public health officials has revealed the "strongest evidence to date" of the effect on babies of the Zika virus.

Dr Tom Frieden, head of the Center for Disease Control, said data from the cases of two infants in Brazil who died soon after birth indicated the virus had passed from mother to child.

But testifying before politicians in Washington, he said more tests must be done before the link can be proven definitively.

US Justice Department files civil rights lawsuit against the city of Ferguson, Missouri.

The US Justice Department is filing a civil rights lawsuit against the city of Ferguson, Missouri.  

Ferguson came into the spotlight after the police shooting of Michael Brown in August 2014.  

It comes a day after the Ferguson City Council rejected a proposed deal for justice system reforms.

The lawsuit accuses the Ferguson justice system of engaging in practices that deprive people of their constitutionally protected rights. 

Attorney General Loretta Lynch says their investigation found those practices were driven in part by racial bias.

US Regulator Redefines Driver

The agency that sets the rules on US roads has redefined “driver” in a letter to Google.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says computers that control the cars of the future can be considered drivers, just like humans. 

And as Silicon Valley Correspondent Rachel Silverman reports, that’s an important break for Google as car makers race to build the first fully autonomous motor vehicle.

US renews commitment to Turkey after Erdogan lashes out over US support for PYD

The US State Department has renewed it's commitment to its alliance with Turkey, after the Turkish president lashed out at the US over its support for Syria's main Kurdish group.

President Erdogan said the US's failure to recognise the Democratic Union Party (PYD) as a terrorist group was creating a "sea of blood".

The US relies on the PYD to fight IS in Syria but Turkey says it is an off shoot of the banned Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK).

State Department spokesman Mark Toner said the US is in constant communication with the Turkish government to address any concerns.

US Official: US and India Consider Joint Patrols in South China Sea

The US and India reportedly discussed plans to conduct joint naval
patrols that could include the disputed South China Sea, where Beijing
has built several islands in the Spratly archipelago amid protests and
territorial claims by neighboring countries. An U.S. defense official
told Reuters News that the two sides may launch the joint patrols
within the year, in a move that would likely anger Beijing.

London Black Cabs stage protest over Uber

London's  Black Cab Drivers have staged a protest outside the British Parliament, over concerns about mini-cab app Uber.

Climate change due to impact transatlantic air travel according to new research

Researchers in Britain say transatlantic flights will take longer when traveling from Europe to North America but be speeded up on the return journey, due to climate change.
