The US Justice Department is filing a civil rights lawsuit against the city of Ferguson, Missouri.
Ferguson came into the spotlight after the police shooting of Michael Brown in August 2014.
It comes a day after the Ferguson City Council rejected a proposed deal for justice system reforms.
The lawsuit accuses the Ferguson justice system of engaging in practices that deprive people of their constitutionally protected rights.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch says their investigation found those practices were driven in part by racial bias.
