UK 'CLOSE TO REFORM DEAL' WITH EU

Britain is reportedly edging towards a deal on reform of its relationship with the European Union.

It's understood London and Brussels are close to agreeing a so-called 'emergency brake' that could allow it to stop some benefit payments to migrants.

But to activate this emergency brake, Britain would need approval from other member states.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron is visiting Brussels for talks on EU reform, ahead of an in-out referendum on Britain's membership which could be held this year.

Conservative MEP and leading eurosceptic Daniel Hannan says the mooted deal does not go far enough.
