Russia and Iran finalize missile systems delivery deal

Russia and Iran have signed a contract to supply S-300 surface-to-air missile systems to Tehran. The contract, which will help Iran to significantly upgrade its anti-aircraft and anti-ballistic missile capabilities, was suspended in 2010 under pressure from Western countries. British scientists warn this year will see full 1 degree rise in global temperatures

Scientists in Britain are warning that global temperatures are set to rise more than one degree above pre-industrial levels…the halfway mark towards a 2 degree rise which is considered the gateway to dangerous global warming.

Christmas Island riot - update

The Australian Government has confirmed a number of people at the Christmas Island detention centre are involved in what they have described as a "stand-off" with authorities following the death of an Iranian refugee, and they've blamed opportunists for the disturbance.

The controversial artist Petr Pavlensky who is better known for his nailing his scrotum to the Red Square has been detained in Moscow on Sunday night.

Pavlensky had set fire to the door of the Federal Security building, the FSB causing the authorities to react.

The artist has already been facing a criminal case on charges of vandalism for his previous street action in which he set fire to car tires in St. Petersburg, which referenced the barricades set up in Kiev's Maidan Square in 2013 and 2014.

If found guilty, he could face up to three years in prison.

Russia Continues To Fly Tourists Home From Egypt

Russia says it's flown more than 11,000 tourists home from Egypt over the weekend.

It comes after the Kremlin announced on Friday that it was suspending all flights to the country after a Russian passenger jet crashed in the Sinai, killing 224 people.

EU Ministers Begin Week Trying to Tackle Migration

Russia remembers victims of Egypt crash

A memorial service was held at St. Petersberg's St. Isaac Cathedral to remember the 224 victims of what intelligence indicates to be a bomb on board their flight from Sharm el-Sheikh Egypt.

Russia has also flown 11,000 tourists home from Egypt on special flights, after cancelling all flights out of Egypt back to Russia.

With U.S. and other intelligence pointing toward a bomb deliberated placed on Metrojet Flight 9268, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, who is the ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, hopes Moscow understands what this really means.

US commends Burma on peaceful vote

The Obama administration is praising Burma - the country also known as Myanmar - for its peaceful elections, but notes that they were far from perfect.

Rioting reported in Australian detention centre following asylum seeker death

Australian Detainees at the Christmas Island detention centre are reportedly rioting over the death of an Iranian asylum seeker.
It follows the death of Iranian Kurdish asylum seeker Fazel Chegeni, whose body was found on Sundday after he escaped the centre on Friday.

Wall St. Week Ahead: Fed, Investors Eye Data


With last week’s non-farm payrolls data coming in strong for October, its more likely the US federal reserve will raise US interest rates come December. UK DEFENCE CHIEF PUSHES FOR SYRIA AIR STRIKES

Britain's top military officer says the UK is letting its allies down by not carrying out air strikes in Syria.

The UK's military action against the Islamic State is currently limited to Iraq.

General Sir Nicholas Houghton says this strategy doesn't make sense while Islamic State militants have their de facto capital in Syria.

British MPs voted against military action in Syria in 2013.

But as Olly Barratt reports from London, top British officials are pushing for this to be reexamined.

UN Watchdog Says Mustard Gas Used in Syria Attack

Chemical weapons experts have concluded that mustard gas was used in
an attack on a town in northern Syria in August. The Organization for
the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons reports the chemical agent was
released in Marea, with diplomatic sources claiming it was used in
clashes between ISIS and a local rebel group.

Obama Threatens Withdrawal of S. Africa's AGOA Benefits on Ag Products

President Obama has ordered that all duty-free agricultural products from South Africa under the trade preference scheme "AGOA" be withdrawn within 60 days. 

The US says South Africa has been unwilling to finalize a deal opening up American poultry - and is unwilling to work on pork and beef access.
