UN Yemen Envoy says Geneva talks on Yemen conflict held promise, but divisions remain


Despite Yemen's challenges, parties to the conflict have reached a milestone on the path towards a political transition, according to the UN special envoy for the country.


Briefing the UN Security Council Wednesday after UN-brokered talks in Geneva, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed warned -- however -- that despite progress, an agreement between Yemen's rival parties is still out of reach.

Before death sentence is passed, Tsarnaev apologizes to Boston bombing victims

The Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokar Tsarnaev has apologized to the victims of the 2013 attack.


Speaking publicly for the first time since his arrest, he told a sentencing hearing in Boston that he was sorry for the suffering that he has caused.

Boston Bomber admits guilt and apologizes

Convict Boston Marathon Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has broken his silence in court to admit his guilt and apologize to his victims. 

He spoke after he was formally sentenced to death for detonating two homemade bombs at the 2013 marathon which killed 3 people and injured hundreds more.

Cyber criminal mastermind charged in NYC court

One of the world's most wanted cyber criminals has been charged in a
New York court.

Turkish national Ercan Findikoglu has pleaded not guilty following his
extradition on Tuesday from Germany, where he was arrested two years
ago.

It's alleged he gained $55m through hacking global financial institutions.

Obama changes US government policy on hostages

President Obama says the families of American hostages seized by ISIS and other militant groups will no longer face the risk of prosecution if they attempt to negotiate ransom payments.


It's a big shift in US policy, and comes after the Department of Justice threatened to put several families on trial over their communications with hostage-takers.

US authorities hunting insider trading hackers

The United States government is on the hunt for hackers who broke into companies' email accounts to steal stock trading information.

Peruvian authorities find mass grave

Peruvian prosecutors have discovered a mass grave in the Andean region of Ayacucho.

According to forensic experts, the grave contains 17 bodies believed to belong to local farmers who were kidnapped in the 1980s by the rebel group Shining Path.

Greek debt talks heat up in Brussels

Eurozone finance ministers are meeting in Brussels with pressure on to come to a deal on the Greek debt negations.

Greece presented a new budget proposals that Prime Minster Alexis Tsipras says met creditors' demands.

But although European creditors say the proposals were signifantly better then previous ones, the International Monetary Fund says they're still not enough.

Greece must repay €1.6 billion euro to the International Monetary Fund by the end of the June, or default on its debt and face removal from the Eurozone. 

If an agreement is reached, Greece can tap into a €7.2 billion bailout to help it's economy stay afloat.

Obama & Hollande expected to discuss spying allegations

US President Barack Obama is due to speak to French President Francois Hollande today (Wednesday) over revelations by Wikileaks that America's National Security Agency eavesdropped on three successive French presidents.

Emergency aid reaches Yemen port amid humanitarian crisis


The United Nations says that 1.6 billion dollars is now needed to face what it calls a 'looming catastrophe' in Yemen.

The country is suffering under a Saudi-led coalition naval blockade, part of the strategy to counter the advance of houthi rebels, backed by Iran.

The three month war has seen the humanitarian crisis worsen to alarming levels with 80 percent of the population in desperate need of aid.

British PM says scenes at Calais are totally unacceptable

Britain's Prime Minster David Cameron has called the scenes at the French side of the Channel Tunnel, which links the UK and France, totally unacceptable.


Hundreds of migrants have tried to board lorries at the boarder during a workers strike, with the intention of entering the UK and hopes of a better life.


The Prime Minister reassured parliament that the UK would work together with French Officials to try to resolve the situation.
