Obama changes US government policy on hostages

President Obama says the families of American hostages seized by ISIS and other militant groups will no longer face the risk of prosecution if they attempt to negotiate ransom payments.

It's a big shift in US policy, and comes after the Department of Justice threatened to put several families on trial over their communications with hostage-takers.

From Washington, Simon Marks reports.
