CHARLES 'BLACK SPIDER MEMOS' TO BE RELEASED

So-called 'black spider memos' written by Britain's Prince Charles will be published later after a long legal battle.

The secret letters from Charles to Labour government ministers in 2004 and 2005 will be released with some redactions.

The Guardian newspaper campaigned for a decade for their publication, and the Supreme Court ruled in March that the government had been wrong to block their release.

Critics of the Prince insist the next in line to the throne should not be intervening on policy matters.

The party is divided over how best to respond to its lack of appeal at the ballot box in Scotland - but also in large parts of England.

Obama Trade Bill Blocked By His Own Party

A critical vote on President Obama's trade agenda has failed in the US Senate, after members of his own party announced they would vote against even opening debate on the bill.

The legislation would have approved so called 'Trade Promotion Authority' or TPA, which would allow the president to fast-track trade deals through Congress on a simple yes or no vote, without lawmakers adding any amendments.

Debate on Controversial Trade Bill Kicks Off On Capitol Hill

The centrepiece of Barack Obama's trade agenda faces a key vote in the US Senate on Tuesday, as members of the President's own party move to block legislation that would grant him so-called 'fast track' authority on an important Pacific trade deal.

The bill would pave the way for the sweeping 12-nation Trans Pacific Partnership, but liberals are worried it could get rid of American jobs, while some Republicans aren't keen to hand the President a victory.
