UNSG warns of civilian toll in Yemen and Yarmouk refugee camp, urges nations to seek solution

Countless civilians are being willfully abandoned to misery in Yemen and Syria, the UN Secretary General told reporters Thursday in New York.


In a bid to keep the spotlight on the two crises before he leaves for Panama and Doha this week, the UN Chief urged parties to seek a political solution to end the violence.

Iran's Supreme Leader wants US sanctions lifted immediately

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has demanded all sanctions on his country are lifted once a final agreement over a nuclear deal is signed.

President Obama says the sanctions would be removed in phases once the agreement is secured.

Speaking on State television, Khamenei said he would "neither support nor oppose the deal", which was reached last week between Iran and six world powers in Switzerland.

During a Thursday press briefing, State Department spokesperson Jeff Rathke was asked how damaging the leader's remarks could be for the end of June deadline...

Greece's PM says hopes Greece can become a Russia-EU bridge

Greece repays debt installment to IMF

The Greek government says it has repaid its installment of 460 million euros to the International Monetary Fund.

Half of countries miss UN education target

According to a United Nations report 58 million children around the

President Obama will talk about energy security with Caribbean nations

Facebook privacy lawsuit begins in Vienna

Tsarnaev lawyers face battle to avoid death penalty

Defence lawyers for the convicted Boston marathon bomber Dzhokar Tsarnaev are preparing to try and save his life at the penalty phase in the trial.

Tsarnaev Found Guilty of Boston Bombing

Dzhokar Tsarnaev has been found guilty of carrying out the most bloody terrorist attack on US Soil since the events of September 11th 2001.

The Boston Marathon bombing attack of 2013 killed three and injured 264 others.

Tsarnaev was also convicted of killing a police officer while on the run, during which his older brother Tamerlan was killed.

Many of the charges carry a death penalty, but his sentence hearing is still to get underway.

Speaking after the 21 year old was convicted of all 30 counts against him, bombing survivor Karen Brassard says she was not convinced by defense arguments about being misled by his older brother.
