Google battles Max Mosley lawsuit over sex party pictures

Google is seeking to block a lawsuit brought against it by British former Formula One motor racing chief Max Mosley.

Mosley accuses Google of breaching his right to privacy by allowing users to access photos of him taking part in a sex party.

JP Morgan Chase profits hit by legal costs

America's largest bank has seen a significant drop in quarterly
profits after paying out more than a $1 billion in legal costs.

Mexican officials charge mayor with student disappearance

Mexican officials have filed charges against the former mayor of the town of Ayotzinapa, where the 43 college students disappeared late last year. 

Mexico's head of criminal investigations said that that officials had also issued arrest warrants for 44 other people.

Top White House Advisor 'To Join Clinton Campaign'

The Wall Street Journal newspaper is reporting that John Podesta, Bill Clinton's former chief of staff, will take on a senior role in Hillary Clinton's emerging presidential bid.

It's being seen as a clear sign that the former US Secretary of State is indeed working towards running for the White House in 2016.

Muslim groups say sold-out edition of Charlie Hebdo causes fresh offense

All three million copies of the latest issue of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo have sold out, within hours of going on sale.


Another two million copies will be distributed on Thursday, just a week after gunmen attacked the magazine's headquarters in Paris killing 12 people.


5 others died in a related attack on a Kosher supermarket in Paris.


The latest edition of the magazine has a cartoon depicting the Prophet Mohammed on its front page.


That's drawn criticism from some Islamic organizations.

Germany to issue extremist ID cards

The German government plans to further limit domestic Islamic extremists by issuing ID cards that forbid them from leaving the country for a 3-year period. 

More than 550 German citizens have travelled to Iraq and Syria to join the fighting there.

UK home secretary vows to share terror intelligence with EU

Britain's Home Secretary Theresa May has called for an European-wide travel and communications database, in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.

Russia reports a toxic leak aboard the ISS

ECB bond-buying programme is legal according to top EU lawyer

The European Central Bank's planned programme of bond buying has been given the green light by a top European lawyer.

Germany has asserted a legal challenge against the programme but the move from the European Court of Justice will now open the door to quantitative easing in the eurozone.

"No panic" aboard ISS after apparent chemical leak, 6 crew safe

Russian cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station say the 6 crew members are safe and there is "no panic" after an apparent chemical leak forced the evacuation of the American section of the orbiting laboratory.


There are 6 crew members aboard the ISS - 2 Americans, 3 Russians and an Italian.


They're now all crammed into the Russian section of the Space Station, and say they'll spend the night there while Mission Control determines what caused the problem.


Russian flight engineer Alexander Samoukutyaev (PRON:  SAM-OO-KOO-TAYEV) told ground controllers it's cramped on board, but everyone is healthy.

The US astronauts aboard the International Space Station have been forced to evacuate their section of the orbiting laboratory after an apparent chemical leak.


They're now sheltering in the Russian section of the craft, while controllers on the ground try to determine exactly what occurred.

Europeans rush to find copies of new "Charlie Hebdo"

Copies of the latest edition of the French magazine "Charlie Hebdo" are being snapped up in France and other parts of Europe.


It's the first edition to go on sale since last week's attack on the magazine's office in Paris.


The magazine features a cartoon on its cover depicting the Prophet Muhammed and three million copies have gone on sale in Europe, in contrast to the magazine's previous circulation of just sixty thousand.


These commuters in London were hoping to find a copy on British news-stands.

WORLD BANK CUTS GLOBAL GROWTH FORECAST

The World Bank has cut its global growth forecast, predicting economic expansion of 3% this year and 3.3% next.

That's lower than its June estimates of 3.4 and 3.5%.

It does say, however, that lower oil prices will benefit some economies.

Franziska Ohnsorge, Senior Economist at the World Bank, says falling oil will have mixed results when it comes to inflation.
