Newtown victim families sue gun maker

The families of some of the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook
elementary have filed a lawsuit against the seller, distributor and
manufacturer of the rifle used by the gunman.


Nearly two years ago the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle was used by
20-year-old Adam Lanza who opened fire at a school in Newtown
Connecticut killing 20 children and 6 educators. One of the deadliest
school shootings in U.S. history.

Mexico unrest continues


Mexican police forces in the city of Chilpanchingo have clashed with demonstrators protesting the disappearance and likely massacre of a group of student teachers.

The incident reportedly left eight police officers and thirteen protesters injured.

Unconfirmed reports say there have been injuries and possibly two fatalities.

Kerry and Netanyahu Meet in Rome


Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, are meeting in Rome to discuss a Palestinian resolution at the UN Security Council which outlines a timetable for a final peace deal with Israel.

Mr Netanyahu has said he will defy any UN move to 'dictate' a time frame for Israeli withdrawal from land that Palestinians say they want as part of a future state.

American actor Bill Cosby has broken his silence about rape and sexual

Guantanamo 9/11 hearing to focus on FBI

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's efforts to infiltrate defense teams will be the focus at a US military court hearing for suspects in the 9/11 attacks.


The pre-trial hearing at the US prison at Guantanamo Bay starts on Monday and is the first such proceeding since a Senate report on CIA torture was released last week.

Four armed men stage siege in Gent, Belgium.

Four armed men have stormed a flat in the Belgian city of Ghent and police say they may have taken a hostage.  

The surrounding streets have been sealed off and residents in the apartment complex have been urged to remain inside. 

Officials from the local prosecutor's office have so far ruled out any links to terrorism, or the ongoing incident in Sydney.

France bans the Uber taxi app

France has announced it will ban the controversial taxi ordering app service Uber from the 1st of January.
