Spanish PM meets Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez amid row with congress


Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is meeting with Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez, amid a fierce debate over recognising him as the country's president-elect.

Gonzalez fled to Spain after Venezuelan authorities issued a warrant for his arrest.

The U.S. and European Union say President Nicolas Maduro's regime rigged elections held earlier this year.
