UK PM PLEDGES BOOST TO DEFENCE SPENDING

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's in Washington setting out a 'cast iron' commitment to increasing defence spending to 2.5% of GDP.

He's attending the NATO leaders' summit, with a call for unity on issues such as support for Ukraine.

The UK's new Prime Minister is being criticised by the opposition Conservatives in the UK for failing to set out when the defence spending pledge will be met.

Armed forces minister Luke Pollard says a defence review needs to be completed first.
