UK GOVT SETS OUT LEGISLATIVE PLANS

The UK's new Labour government is setting out legislative plans it says will 'take the brakes off Britain'.

It's unveiling dozens of bills in Wednesday's State Opening of Parliament, with a major focus on the economy.

The opposition Conservatives say they will hold the government to account over its promises.

Government minister Lisa Nandy says pledges made in the election campaign will be followed through.
