Prime Minister Narendra Modi has defended himself against accusations of fuelling religious divisions between Hindus and Muslims to win the national elections.
In an interview to a news channel, Mr Modi said the day he starts discriminating between Hindus and Muslims will be the day he loses the ability to lead a public life.
His comments came after he filed his nomination for re-election for a third term from one of Hinduism's holiest cities – Varanasi.
