In the middle of a two month-long national election, parts of India recorded the highest temperatures for the month of April, with the heat killing at least nine people.
Political analysts say scorching heat has been one of the reasons for low voter turnout in the ongoing parliamentary election that began on April 19, with results due only on June 4.
