Prime Minister Modi says ‘timely intervention’ by his government improved the situation in violence-hit Manipur

Eleven months since ethnic violence first began in the northeastern state of Manipur, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has claimed that 'timely intervention' by his government has improved the security situation in the state.

More than 200 people have been killed and 60,000 people have been displaced from their homes since May last year.
