High-profile leaders defect from India's opposition Congress party ahead of general elections

A prominent leader from India's Congress party has become the latest opposition figure to resign, announcing his departure on Thursday morning.

Gourav Vallabh called the party's election campaign 'directionless.'

It comes as opposition parties in India claim they are being targeted by the government through federal agencies to cripple their election campaigns.
