U.S. government shutdown likely averted with Senate prepped to pass short-term bill

The U.S. Senate is getting ready to vote on short-term funding legislation to keep the government open until early next year. 

Bipartisan House representatives passed it on Tuesday despite opposition from some far-right Republicans.
