ENGLAND'S CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER GIVES EVIDENCE AT COVID INQUIRY

England's Chief Medical Officer at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic says in hindsight the first lockdown came too late - though claims there were no "good" options at the time.

Professor Chris Whitty was frequently seen standing next to politicians to provide scientific insight during a series of Covid-19 televised briefings.

He testified on Tuesday at the Covid-19 inquiry in London, which seeks to find what lessons can be learned about the Government's pandemic response.
