Public Hearings Begin In UK's COVID-19 Inquiry

The first public hearings are taking place today in the UK's COVID-19 inquiry.

It's been set up to 'examine the response to and impact of the pandemic and learn lessons for the future.'

Evidence is expected to be heard for at least 3 years. The first module of the enquiry will look at the UKs pandemic resilience and preparation, with as many as 70 witnesses expected to contribute.

COVID-19 has been included on the death certificate of more than 225 thousand people in the UK.

Former health minister Lord Bethell believes the country has "gone backwards" in its ability to handle future crises:

In: The desire to...

Out: …first time round.
