Germany is under increasing political pressure to send Ukraine western-made main battle tanks, known as "Leopard 2s" -- amid speculation Russia may be readying a major spring offensive.
Berlin has expressed concerns about sending the heavy weaponry without a similar move from the United States and says it wants to avoid escalating the conflict in Ukraine into a direct war between Russia and NATO.

Urmas Reinsalu is the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, one of the countries publicly calling on Germany to give the green light.
