AMBULANCE WORKERS ON STRIKE IN ENGLAND AND WALES

Thousands of ambulance workers will go on strike across England and Wales in action over pay and working conditions. Emergency 'life and limb' cover will still be provided - but responses to other non-life threatening calls will be decided regionally. Military personnel have been called in to help plug staffing gaps - but there have been warnings issued from health bosses that patient safety can not be guaranteed.  The UK government Health Secretary Steve Barclay has accused Unions of making contingency planning difficult.
