British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson have signed a bilateral security agreement that will see Britain coming to Sweden's defense in the event that the country comes under attack.
The agreement is being widely seen as a fore-runner to Sweden's possibly imminent application for NATO membership…a move propelled by fears about Russian aggression arising from the Ukraine crisis.
The Swedish leader indicated today's deal with London is just a start.
