Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has said he will step down if he is issued with a penalty from police as an investigation into whether he broke Covid social distancing rules gets underway. Mr Starmer had been in the North East of England in April 2021 as part of an election campaign where he has been accused of breaching guidance by having a takeaway curry and beer with staff. Mr Starmer denies any wrongdoing. Laura Makin-Isherwood reports.
