The maker of Russia's Sputnik V [vee] Covid-19 vaccine has begun phase 1 trials of a version specifically modified for the new Omicron variant.
In the meantime, the director of the Gamaleya Institute says it's unclear if Sputnik V is less effective against the Omicron variant — but research is underway and they may know as early as next week.
