Fears of a health crisis in Europe have added a sense of urgency to an EU summit in Brussels.
It's projected Omicron will become the dominant strain on the continent as early as next month.
New travel restrictions this winter have not been ruled out.
EU leaders have also discussed tensions with Russia over Ukraine, and energy prices.
